For us, as a health solutions enterprise, it means finding innovative ways to ensure that our employees, members, neighbors and communities are safe and healthy. And there's been no more important time to do this than right now.
Throughout the course of this pandemic, we've heard a great deal about the shortage of personal protective equipment, or PPE. I'm proud to share that we are playing a role in helping to address this issue.
Recently we received an urgent request from a group of family physicians in desperate need of protective masks. We provided a grant to the Florida Academy, a Family Physicians Foundation, to pay for more than 8000 masks. We handled everything from the logistics to the delivery, so that we could get these necessities to 500 family doctors immediately, with more masks and deliveries planned. I think this thumbs up says it all.
And here's an example of some outside-the-box thinking from one of our national account customers, Fanatics, which manufactures uniforms and merchandise for sports teams. With sports on hiatus due to the pandemic, Fanatics shifted its production from jerseys to masks and gowns for hospital staff. And we're teaming up with them to distribute some of this PPE to Florida hospitals and our own GuideWell Health facilities. So far, we've organized the delivery of more than 15000 pieces with more planned.
We were also able to supply critically needed, medical-grade masks to many of our provider partners, like Sanitas, through the hard work and creative thinking of our dedicated team.
